Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) modifiers provide excellent impact resistance and ductility to the entire range of rigid PVC applications, including vinyl siding, fence, window profiles, and pipe. The range of use extends to PVC cap stocks, based on proven weatherability of CPE-modified compounds. Specialized CPE grades provide enhanced efficiency with an excellent combination of processing characteristics. 
 
Vinyl Siding:  
CPE is the modifier of choice for cost/performance efficiency in vinyl siding substrate, providing toughness at low temperatures, ductility, and a high capability for filler acceptance. Good weatherability for CPE-modified compounds extends the range of application to the siding capstock.  
Fence/Deck:  
CPE provides excellent impact properties, filler acceptance, and ductility in vinyl fence substrate, and can also be utilized in capstock applications.  
Window Profiles:  
CPE is used extensively, alone or in blends with acrylic impact modifiers, to achieve a desirable combination of ductile impact and processing performance. CPE-modified profiles are characterized by improved low temperature properties and corner-weld strength 
Pipe:  
CPE finds use in pipe applications, typically in specialty PVC pipe, CPVC pipe, electrical conduit, and any highly-filled compounds in this category. 
 
Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE for plastic) 
 
Properties: 
Chlorinated Polyethylene CPE-135A is a plastic rigid product modifier to achieve better plastification and anti-agglomeration performance. However, Chlorinated Polyethylene CPE-135A is no longer suitable for soft products and rubber application.

When used with plastics, it acts as modifier. CPE is mainly used as impact modifier in  
UPVC products, to improve impact strength and low-temperature property. As modifier.  
CPE could be used with rubber to improve itsproperties, such as anti-combustion, insulation 
And anti-ageing. Moreover, it can be an addictive for ABS to improve the flame retardant.

Most polymers have to be impact modified in order to satisfy end-use requirements for rigid applications. In all cases, the problem can be solved by incorporating rubber domains into the polymer matrix. However, the nature and the size of the elastomeric phase have to be adapted to each polymer matrix. In most cases, it is also desirable to use the minimum amount of rubber modifier. Among the families of plastic toughners, MBS and ABS impact modifier can be used to improve impact strength.
